A SIM Storm Avoided: How Solve Helped Perry Weather Stay Ahead of the Front
Meet the Customer

Perry Weather builds smart, connected weather stations that help cities, schools, parks and sports complexes make data-informed safety decisions. With 700+ stations across the country, each one running on a Verizon Public Static IP address, they rely on seamless, always-on connectivity to keep their network running and their customers informed.
The Forecast: A Costly SIM Swap
When their team came to us, they had a challenge most MVNOs would have walked away from—or at least attached an inflated price tag. They wanted to increase their network security, but with one major catch: they didn’t want to roll trucks to all those remote sites just to swap SIM cards.
That’s no small ask. A nationwide SIM transition usually involves significant labor, time and money. The most common solution is to replace each SIM with a new one that can connect to a different APN—an expensive, disruptive fix. But that’s not how Solve operates.
The Solve Solution: Over-the-Air Migration at Scale
We specialize in doing things differently. In this case, that means transitioning Perry Weather from a public APN to our private APN over the air. That means no trucks, no downtime, and no disruptions to the devices already in the field.
Working closely with the customer’s engineering team, we mapped out a remote APN migration strategy. Together, we executed a series of updates and testing phases to ensure that every device could make the switch without a hitch. It required tight coordination, a deep understanding of their deployment architecture and a willingness to customize the solution to fit their needs.

The result? Perry Weather achieved its security goals without touching a single weather station in the field. They avoided a nationwide service interruption. They saved a significant amount of operational costs. And, they got a long-term solution that set them up for future scalability, with security baked in from the SIM up.
This project is a great example of what Solve is all about: thoughtful engineering, collaborative execution, and customer-first outcomes. When traditional players offer a cookie-cutter, outdated approach, we provide a better one.
